The legal representative of Cha Ga Won, CEO of Big Planet Made Entertainment (BPM), has strongly rejected recent allegations surrounding an alleged management rights dispute, describing them as “malicious misinformation” and announcing plans to pursue a large-scale damages lawsuit.

On April 10, attorney Hyun Dong Yeop, representing Cha Ga Won, stated that the dispute stemmed from what he called a “collusive illegal attempt” involving Knowmerce, Cha Jun Young, and The Fact. He alleged that the parties were involved in an attempt to execute a hostile takeover of BPM.

Regarding the ongoing conflict with Knowmerce, the legal team argued that trust between the parties had completely broken down due to clear contractual breaches, including service disruptions related to the “Fromm” platform. They further stated that retaining advance payments as collateral until dispute resolution and compensation settlement constitutes a legitimate exercise of contractual rights. Claims characterizing this action as fraud were dismissed as a “distortion of facts.”

The legal representative also characterized the complaints as part of an attempt to seize control of the company, alleging that Cha Jun Young and Knowmerce conspired to file false accusations in order to take over the agency and its artists. He further claimed that misinformation and coordinated public opinion manipulation were used in support of a hostile acquisition attempt.

In response to reporting by The Fact, the legal team said a court had already approved an injunction prohibiting the publication of the article in question. They added that BPM is preparing a damages lawsuit worth approximately 100 billion KRW (approx. 74 million USD), citing significant reputational and financial harm caused by what they described as malicious reporting.

The company attributed recent operational and financial difficulties to external pressure, arguing that false reports and attacks damaged corporate credibility and disrupted cash flow, which subsequently affected artist settlement processes.

Regarding the ongoing investigation, the legal team expressed confidence in a favorable outcome, stating that seized materials and mobile phone data would substantiate their position. They added that they will fully cooperate with forensic investigations to secure a non-prosecution decision.

BPM concluded by reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy toward defamation and the dissemination of false information, pledging strong legal action against all responsible parties.
