A woman in her 30s who drove a Porsche off Banpo Bridge in Seoul has been identified as a well-known influencer with 110,000 social media followers. An alleged accomplice accused of supplying her with psychotropic drugs has also voluntarily turned himself in to the police.
According to Newsis on March 3, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced that while investigating the driver, identified only as 'A,' for illegal drug possession, a man identified as 'B' came forward the previous afternoon claiming he had handed her psychotropic substances. 'B' reportedly works at a hospital that had business dealings with 'A,' who is both a prominent influencer and the head of a hospital marketing agency.
A allegedly crashed her black Porsche into the guardrail of Banpo Bridge at approximately 8:44 PM on February 25 before plunging below the bridge onto the Han River riverbank. During the incident, a man in his 40s who was driving a Mercedes that collided with 'A’s vehicle was injured and taken to a hospital. Police discovered multiple empty propofol bottles and syringes inside 'A’s car at the scene.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, applying additional charges of causing bodily injury through dangerous driving under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, on top of existing allegations of drug-impaired driving under the Road Traffic Act and violations of the Narcotics Control Act.
On February 27, the Seoul Western District Court conducted a pre-arrest warrant review for 'A' and issued a detention warrant, citing concerns about potential evidence destruction and flight risk. She is currently under arrest as the investigation proceeds.
'A,' known for her 110,000 social media followers and her role as CEO of a hospital marketing agency, reportedly deleted her account three days after the crash.
