Actor Lee Seo Jin opened up about his plans to retire in Texas while sharing his experience filming the upcoming Netflix variety show 'Ready or Not: Texas.'

The press event for Netflix’s new entertainment program 'Ready or Not: Texas' was held on March 24 at CGV I’Park Mall in Yongsan, Seoul. Producer Na Yeong Seok, producer Kim Ye Seul, and Lee Seo Jin attended the event.

'Ready or Not: Texas' is an unscripted travel variety show following Lee Seo Jin and Na Yeong Seok on a spontaneous journey across the United States. With no set plans or scripts, the program captures their unpredictable experiences. From enjoying gamjatang and dim sum after a 13 hour flight to visiting roller rinks, exploring football stadiums, and checking out souvenir shops instead of NASA, the show promises a fresh and unconventional travel experience.

During the press event, Lee Seo Jin said, “As some of you may know, Texas is currently one of the hottest places in the U.S. Many companies are moving there, and even Tesla has a presence in Texas.”

He added, “As I became more interested and visited Texas more often, I realized the weather is great and it is a very livable place. I thought to myself that this is where I would like to live after I retire. I have often mentioned that Dallas would be my ideal retirement city.”

Lee Seo Jin also emphasized that Texas remains largely unexplored by many. “Not many people have actually been to Texas. I always tell my friends that they should visit at least once. This time, I had the perfect opportunity to travel and film there,” he said.

He highlighted the state’s appeal, saying, “You will understand why Texas is so popular when you visit. Many American athletes attend universities in Texas, and most professional sports players come from schools there. One of the biggest benefits is that there is no state income tax. That is a huge advantage.”

Concluding, he said, Texas is rich in natural resources like oil and has considerable wealth, so it does not rely on federal support. There is even talk about independence because of its economic strength. Large corporations pay high taxes, so individuals do not need to be heavily taxed. The infrastructure is excellent, and people are relaxed and friendly.”

'Ready or Not: Texas' will be available on Netflix starting March 24.
