Broadcaster Lee Hwi Jae became emotional during rehearsal for his first broadcast appearance in four years.
On March 16th KST, Lee participated in a recording of Immortal Songs at KBS New Building Public Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, marking his long awaited return. The episode was filmed as part of the “2026 Entertainment King of Kings Special.”
Appearing as a vocalist, Lee selected 'When Time Passes' and performed it on stage. During rehearsal, he was reportedly overcome with emotion and shed tears.
Having stepped away from all broadcasting activities in 2022 and spent time in Canada, Lee returned to filming after four years, visibly nervous throughout the recording.
His comeback drew significant attention within the industry. Dozens of entertainment officials, producers, writers, and former colleagues gathered at the venue to welcome him back. Many who had worked with Lee over the past two decades visited his waiting room, creating a continuous stream of reunions throughout the day.
The episode featuring Lee Hwi Jae’s return will air in two parts on the 28th and April 4.
