Actress Yeom Hye Ran is set to attend the Berlin International Film Festival.
On February 11, the film’s distributor announced that the team behind 'My Name,' directed by Jung Ji Young, will walk the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival on February 12.
The team will also participate in the film’s world premiere screening, scheduled to take place in Berlin on the same day. They plan to greet the audience and take part in a Q&A session following the screening.
In addition, the cast and crew will sit down for a series of relay interviews with both domestic and international media outlets to discuss the film’s message. A special screening for the Korean community overseas is also being arranged.
'My Name' is inspired by the Jeju 4·3 Incident. The story follows a boy who wants to discard his name and a mother who must protect it, centered around a promise made 50 years ago.
Director Jung Ji Young presents Korea’s tragic modern history through his signature, insightful lens. As a result, the film has been officially invited to the non-competitive Forum section of the Berlin International Film Festival.
The festival organizers praised the work, stating that it “highlights the importance of breaking long-held silence” and “delivers emotional resonance through its meticulously crafted narrative.”
Yeom Hye Ran takes on the role of Jung Soon, a mother who has kept a secret for 50 years. Shin Woo Bin plays her son Young Ok, a character burdened by a complex over his feminine-sounding name.
'My Name' is scheduled for theatrical release in April.
