Actor Kim Seon Ho has found strong support from fans amid growing controversy over alleged tax avoidance involving a family-run corporation.
As of 10 a.m. on February 3, Kim’s social media account was flooded with messages from fans expressing concern and encouragement. Through the comment section, fans wrote messages such as, “Don’t listen to people spreading false rumors,” “I’ll support you no matter what,” “Ignore the noise,” and “Don’t skip meals or shrink yourself.” As a global star, Kim also received supportive comments in multiple languages, drawing particular attention.
The controversy began on February 1, when Kim was accused of establishing a separate corporation in January 2024 under his home address in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, allegedly for performance planning purposes, while registering his parents as an internal director and auditor in an attempt to reduce tax burdens. He was further accused of paying his parents salaries ranging from several million to tens of millions of won, and of using corporate credit cards for personal living expenses and entertainment. Additional criticism arose when it was revealed that the one-person company had not been registered as a certified entertainment management agency.
In response to the escalating backlash, Kim’s agency Fantagio firmly denied the allegations. The agency stated, “Kim Seon Ho is currently active under an exclusive contract signed in his personal capacity with Fantagio, and all legal and tax-related procedures connected to his current contracts and activities are being faithfully observed.” Fantagio added, “The one-person corporation mentioned in the reports was established solely for theater production and related activities and was never intended for deliberate tax avoidance or evasion.”
The agency further explained that since Kim transferred to Fantagio, the corporation had not engaged in actual business activities for over a year and is currently undergoing closure procedures in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
Kim Seon Ho is scheduled to appear in three upcoming projects, including the TVING drama 'Unfriend', Disney+ original series 'Bewitched', and tvN drama 'Your Excellency Protects Us'. However, the ongoing controversy has cast uncertainty over his future activities.
