On February 21, singer-actress Kim Se Jeong returned to the Philippine stage for her ‘Tenth Letter’ fan concert tour. This marked her return to Manila approximately two years and four months after her previous ‘The Door’ show.
Se Jeong opened the night with charismatic, high-energy performances of Nikki Yanofsky’s “Something New” and Wonder Girls’s “Irony,” setting a fun tone for the rest of the evening.
With both shows held at the same venue, the New Frontier Theater, Se Jeong told the audience that she still vividly remembers their cheers from her last visit.
Following the opening acts and a short greeting, Se Jeong invited several fans onto the stage who had arrived in “special” attire. These fans sported outfits inspired by ‘The Uncanny Counter’ and ‘School 2017,’ hit dramas in which Se Jeong starred.
The first segment of the show, titled “Pieces of Memory,” featured four letters, each containing an Instagram photo that Se Jeong had to identify by event or date. One of the photos was a selfie from her 2021 musical debut in the Korean production ‘Red Book.’
“It was such a fun experience,” Se Jeong shared, revealing that if she had the opportunity to do another musical, she would do it again “100%.” She also expressed her hope that one day she might perform as a musical actress in front of her international fans.
In the second segment, “Five Hearts,” Se Jeong was presented with five missions to accomplish, including identifying songs she had covered from just a one-second clip and guessing tracks based on their lyrics.
During this corner, Se Jeong showcased her vocal prowess by performing snippets of IU’s “My Sea,” Lee Hi’s “Breathe,” and Taeyeon’s “U R,” along with her own songs “Warning” and “Baby I Love U.”
She also sang beloved themes from her K-drama soundtracks, including “Meet Again” from ‘The Uncanny Counter,’ “All of My Days” from ‘Crash Landing On You,’ and “Love, Maybe” from ‘Business Proposal.’
As ‘Tenth Letter’ celebrates her 10th anniversary, Se Jeong made the night even more special by surprising the audience with performances of gugudan’s “A Girl Like Me” and “The Boots.”
The setlist also featured fan favorites like “SKYLINE” and “Flower Way,” before she ended the night with “Let’s go home.”
“I had a really wonderful night,” Se Jeong said. “I received so much energy from you. Today was such a happy moment for me. I won’t forget this for the rest of my life.“
