Jo Jung Suk returns to acting after focusing on family, teams up with 'A Violent Prosecutor' director

Actor Jo Jung Suk is set to return to his main profession after taking time off to focus on childcare, joining hands with director Lee Il Hyung of 'A Violent Prosecutor.'

Earlier this year, Jo Jung Suk welcomed his second daughter and had even paused his YouTube activities to devote himself fully to parenting. However, he is now preparing to step back into acting. According to an exclusive report by IZE on February 5, Jo Jung Suk will take on the title role in the upcoming drama series 'Paperman,' directed by Lee Il Hyung. His agency, JAM Entertainment, told the outlet, “He has received the offer and is positively reviewing it.”

'Paperman' tells the story of a red-green colorblind man who becomes entangled with counterfeit money. Director Lee Il Hyung previously proved his directing prowess through the box office hit 'A Violent Prosecutor,' which drew 9.7 million moviegoers, as well as the Netflix series 'Karma.'

Jo Jung Suk has long been regarded as a “box office guarantee,” moving seamlessly between television and film. His notable works include the films 'EXIT,' 'Pilot,' and 'My Daughter Is a Zombie,' along with hit dramas such as the 'Hospital Playlist' series and 'Don't Dare to Dream.' Each project further solidified his reputation as a dependable leading actor.

Last year, he was named “2025 Actor of the Year Chosen by the Public” at the '2025 KCA Culture and Entertainment Awards,' reaffirming his strong public appeal. Beyond acting, Jo Jung Suk is also known for his singing and dancing skills, having carried out a nationwide tour from last year into early this year, showcasing his versatility as an all-around entertainer.

In particular, this marks his first drama series appearance in quite some time, following 'Captivating the King (2024),' which has heightened anticipation. Known for captivating viewers and audiences alike with his standout performances in every role, expectations are high for the new side of Jo Jung Suk he will reveal through 'Paperman.'
