Allegations have surfaced online surrounding the Disney+ variety program 'Battle of Fates,' sparking controversy.
According to industry sources, on February 19, a post titled “I recently had drinks with a 'Battle of Fates' writer” was uploaded to the workplace community Blind. The anonymous poster claimed that the production team selected only “the four closest guesses” out of speculative posts written by 49 participants and allowed them to present. “Aside from the firefighter, most of the others were largely wrong at first,” the post read.
The author further alleged that the panelists provided significant hints during filming. “The panelists react strongly and give hints,” the poster wrote. “It doesn’t show in the edit, but when someone says something incorrect, they respond in a way that suggests it’s wrong.”
The post continued, claiming that participants would then pick up on those cues and gradually build on their guesses. “The ‘con artists’ catch on and start adding details as they go,” the writer alleged.
The anonymous user also stated that the 49 participants frequently made exaggerated or unusual speculations in every situation. “Of course, most of them were wrong,” the post read. “Only the correct parts were edited and uploaded.”
Calling the show “just a scam program,” the poster added that even the writers experienced moments of disillusionment while working on it. The program was further criticized as “a game to pick the best con artist.”
In response, netizens expressed largely critical reactions, commenting, “It’s scripted anyway,” “If you get lucky, you’re suddenly considered gifted,” “Why even watch something like that in the first place,” and “A professor who studied shamans once said 99 percent of them are frauds.” As of now, Disney+ has not released an official statement regarding the allegations.
