ALPHA DRIVE ONE is currently facing netizen backlash over their recent behavior to fans.
During a recent music show pre-recording, the members of ALPHA DRIVE ONE chatted with fans. Since fans had been there for hours waiting to see ALPHA DRIVE ONE, the members casually asked if fans had eaten yet. Most fans answered no.
In response, ALPHA DRIVE ONE allegedly "implied that fans were purposely not eating just so that they could say they hadn't" and were "trying to get the members to buy them food." Their response upset many fans, with posts about the situation quickly spreading across social media.
Fans who were there reported the members' statements.
"ALD1 kept asking if we had eaten yet, and fans kept saying that we hadn't...
ALD1: Still??
Junseo: At this point, aren't you guys just enjoying getting to say that you haven't eaten?
Sanghyun: You guys can just buy some food from the convenience store the day before, and bring it with you, right?"
"And during the second recording, they asked us if we had eaten. And when we said no, Sangwon and Sanghyun said that there was time between recordings, and that we just seemed to enjoy being able to say that we haven't eaten yet. They acted like we were purposely doing it, as a concept"
Fans also mentioned one member allegedly saying, "Are you just saying that because you're hoping we'll buy you something to eat?"
While some fans took ALPHA DRIVE ONE's remarks to be humorous and lighthearted, many fans were offended. Some criticized the group, saying that their comments lacked empathy, and that fans had waited a long time in the cold to be able to see them that day. The subject has been a hot topic across multiple discussion forums today, with thousands of netizens sharing mostly critical views of the situation.
