Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo have come together in a striking new project.
On the morning of January 21, the 'Next on Netflix 2026 Korea' event was held at a hotel in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo gu, Seoul. At the showcase, Netflix introduced its content strategy and lineup for 2026. The annual event marks the beginning of the year by presenting upcoming Netflix series, films, and variety programs alongside the creators and stars behind them.
The event was led by Kang Dong Han, Vice President of Netflix Korea Content, with senior and executive directors, including Bae Jong Byung, Kim Tae Won, and Yoo Gi Hwan, sharing the overall creative direction. Cast members from upcoming Netflix titles such as Jeon Do Yeon from 'Possible Love,' Nam Joo Hyuk from 'The East Palace,' Son Ye Jin from 'The Scandal,' Park Eun Bin from 'The Wonder Fools,' and Ahn Sung Jae from 'Culinary Class Wars' also appeared to talk about their projects.
While unveiling the series lineup, Senior Director Bae Jong Byung introduced writer Noh Hee Kyung’s new Netflix series 'Tantara.' The series is set in the Korean entertainment industry from the 1960s to the 1980s, a turbulent era marked by violence and survival. It follows individuals who had nothing but devoted everything to their dreams of success, portraying their growth and struggles over time.
'Tantara' is written by Noh Hee Kyung, known for 'Our Blues,' 'Dear My Friends,' and 'It’s Okay, That’s Love,' and directed by Lee Yoon Jung, who previously helmed 'Coffee Prince' and 'Cheese in the Trap.' Bae stated, “Viewers will be able to experience an intense and passionate story set against the entertainment industry from the 1960s to the 1980s. Just hearing their names is exciting, as Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo come together in a powerful way that fits the title. Seolhyun, Cha Seung Won, and Lee Ha Nee also join the cast to portray human desire, emotion, and the density of life.”
Stills released alongside the announcement feature Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo together for the first time, drawing attention to their long anticipated on screen pairing. Expectations are high for what the two actors will show in a story spanning several decades.
Meanwhile, 'Tantara' is scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
