Son Dam Bi has opened up about the relationship she has with her in-laws.
Recently, Son Dam Bi appeared as a guest on Jang Sung Kyu’s YouTube channel. In the released video, Kim Ki Hyuk asked Son Dam Bi and Jung Mi Nyeo about whether they experience conflicts with their in-laws or their spouses’ families.
In response, Son Dam Bi said, “Neither my husband nor I have that," adding, “My parents-in-law aren’t interested in me. That’s because both of them were athletes. My father-in-law was a speed skating athlete, and my mother-in-law was a figure skating athlete.”
Hearing this, Jung Mi Nyeo responded, “That’s great,” expressing her envy.
Sharing that she has no stress related to her in laws, Son Dam Bi also revealed that her mother-in-law, like herself, is not good at cooking. She explained that her mother in law told her, “You don’t have to cook. Just buy meal kits and feed them.”
She went on to emphasize that her in-laws are not that interested in maintaining frequent contact with her. When Jang Sung Kyu asked whether Son Dam Bi ever reaches out to them first, she replied, “Yes. Since they rarely reach out. I just send them updates of the baby being born and growing up.”
She then added, “They say that the most important thing is for my husband and me to live happily,” sharing that she thus has a daily life completely free of any potential mother-in-law and daughter-in-law conflict.
Meanwhile, Son Dam Bi married former Olympic speed skating athlete Lee Kyu Hyuk in May 2022, and the couple welcomed their daughter in April of last year.
