Park Bo Gum delivered warmth and healing to viewers at home on Friday evening with his new tvN variety, 'The Village Barber'.
According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of 'The Village Barber', aired on January 30 KST, recorded an average nationwide viewership rating of 2.8%, with an average citywide rating of 3%. The episode's viewership ratings peaked at 4.4%, the highest peak for any program in the same time slot across all major and cable broadcasting stations.
On the first episode of 'The Village Barber', Park Bo Gum set up a barber shop in a rural village where the villagers experienced discomfort because there were no barbers or hairdressers in business. He then recruited his good friends Lee Sang Yi and Kwak Dong Yeon as employees of his little shop.
In particular, Park Bo Gum tirelessly prepared for the new challenge by earning a hairdresser license, practicing endlessly whenever he had a moment to spare from his busy schedules. Lee Sang Yi also began studying nail care techniques, while Kwak Dong Yeon was put in charge of meals and snacks.
When opening day came and Park Bo Gum greeted his first customer, an elderly man asking for a cut and coloring for his white hairs, the actor sustained a small cut on his finger from his scissors. However, he handled the incident calmly as not to cause discomfort for his customer, prompting praise while also stirring viewers' empathy.
Meanwhile, 'The Village Barber' will air every Fridays at 8:40 PM KST.
