Park Bo Gum revealed his dream of living a “second life” as a hair designer, and he has already taken a major step toward making it happen.
On the January 30 premiere of the tvN variety program 'The Village Barber,' Park Bo Gum, Lee Sang Yi, and Kwak Dong Yeon were shown preparing to open a small barbershop in a rural village in Muju, North Jeolla Province.
During the episode, Park Bo Gum shared how his interest in hairstyling began. He explained, “Because people have worked on my hair so often, I developed an eye for it and learned a lot. I even started thinking that I wanted to become a hair designer. I wondered if someday I might be able to live a second life doing that if I were not acting. Thanks to this variety show, that expectation came true sooner than I thought.”
Park Bo Gum also revealed that he previously obtained a national barber’s license during his military service. Wanting to help elderly residents in rural areas who have limited access to hair salons, he decided to challenge himself further by pursuing the national cosmetologist license so he could give them perms as well.
Although the certification is known for its high difficulty level, with an average pass rate of only around 20 to 30 percent, Park Bo Gum showed strong determination, saying, “I want to score 100 points.” Despite his busy schedule, he consistently practiced in his spare time and ultimately drew attention after announcing that he had passed the written exam.
