Actress Han Ji Min is reportedly considering a lead role in an upcoming spy drama.
On January 13, industry sources reported that Han Ji Min is currently reviewing an offer to appear in 'Koreans' (working title), a Korean remake of the American spy series 'The Americans.'
Han Ji Min has been offered the role of the wife in the drama’s central spy couple. The part was previously discussed with Jun Ji Hyun, who ultimately declined due to scheduling conflicts. Lee Byung Hun is also in discussions to portray the male lead, who is written as her on-screen husband.
In response to the report, Han Ji Min’s agency BH Entertainment stated, “It is true that Han Ji Min has received an offer to appear in ‘Koreans.’ She is reviewing it positively, but due to previously scheduled commitments, a final decision will be made after assessing possible schedule adjustments.”
If confirmed, 'Koreans' would mark Han Ji Min’s third project alongside Lee Byung Hun, following the 2003 drama All In and the 2022 series 'Our Blues.' Although both actors appeared in 'Our Blues,' their characters’ storylines did not overlap.
The drama will be directed by Ahn Gil Ho, known for 'The Glory.' While the original series was set during the Cold War in the 1980s, the Korean adaptation will reinterpret the story against the backdrop of Korea’s military dictatorship era.
Meanwhile, Han Ji Min is preparing for the release of her upcoming JTBC drama 'Efficient Dating for Singles.'
