The family of the late MBC weathercaster Oh Yoanna has filed a witness request against two anchors previously identified as perpetrators.
On January 15, Star News reported that Oh Yoanna’s family submitted a witness request on January 10 through the Seoul Central District Court for a total of three individuals, including the two anchors named as responsible for workplace harassment.
According to the report, the court will decide whether to accept the witnesses during the next scheduled hearing.
Earlier, the family emphasized the necessity of questioning the accused, stating, “We requested the witnesses, but have not received a reply. It seems unlikely they will appear. If there is no response, we have no choice but to prove it through witness testimony. MBC has expressed willingness to provide materials, but we do not consider their investigation objective.” The court suggested selecting two of the three weathercasters as witnesses.
Oh Yoanna passed away in September 2024 at the age of 28. Her death was publicly reported in December of the same year, and recent claims have surfaced alleging she suffered workplace harassment while alive. Investigators found a 17-page suicide note on her phone, reportedly detailing the harassment she experienced from colleagues.
Subsequently, her family filed a damages lawsuit against a senior weathercaster, identified as 'A,' who is suspected of leading group bullying. During the first court hearing on July 22, 'A' denied any workplace harassment.
