Singer Brian shared an incident in which he was allegedly assaulted due to a misunderstanding by a camera director.
On January 5 KST, a video titled “Hwanhee: This Is the Funniest Variety Show Ever / First YouTube Appearance Together / Revealing Untold Fight Stories of Former SM Seniors” was uploaded to the YouTube channel Donghaemul and Baekdu Eunhyuk. In the video, Brian and Hwanhee looked back on their early days as members of Fly to the Sky and shared behind-the-scenes stories from that time.
While watching footage from an early music show appearance, Brian recalled, “Was this the day the director hit me?” He explained that although the particular clip shown was not from that day, there was an occasion when a camera director instructed him to grab the camera during a live broadcast. However, that instruction was not communicated to the supervising camera director.
Brian continued, “That day, my parents had flown in from the U.S., and right after we came off stage, the director grabbed me by the collar. I didn’t understand why I was being hit, but he thought I had grabbed the camera on my own without permission.” He added that the situation was eventually resolved when the company received an apology on his behalf.
Brian also addressed a long-standing rumor surrounding a recording studio video that had circulated online, in which he and Hwanhee appeared to avoid making eye contact while recording. At the time, some netizens speculated that the two had been fighting over contract issues.
When asked about the truth behind the video, Brian clarified, “The way we were recording and not looking at each other had nothing to do with a fight,” dismissing the rumors as false. Hwanhee added humorously, “Who even filmed that for it to still be talked about now?” prompting laughter during the show.
