
Actor Yoo Ah In is set to return to acting.
On December 17 KST, an entertainment industry insider revealed, “Yoo Ah In is making his comeback through the new film 'Vampire', directed by Jang Jae Hyun.” The upcoming project Vampire is a vampire-themed film and is expected to further expand the occult universe that director Jang has built through works such as 'The Priests, Svaha: The Sixth Finger', and 'Exhuma', drawing significant public anticipation.
Director Jang Jae Hyun previously spoke about the project in interviews with overseas media. He explained, “We are in the early stages of developing a Korean original story centered on vampires. The project is inspired by Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula. I want to make a vampire film set against the backdrop of the Russian Orthodox Church.” He also noted that the screenplay would take approximately two years to complete, with the final release expected around four years later.
Vampire is scheduled to begin filming in the second half of next year. Through this project, Yoo Ah In will resume his acting career after approximately three years.
Yoo Ah In had been indicted without detention on charges including habitual propofol use between September 2020 and March 2022, illegal prescriptions for sleeping pills, and marijuana use in the United States in January 2022. In 2024, he was sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of 2 million KRW and was taken into custody. However, following a Supreme Court ruling, his sentence was finalized as one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence and a fine of 2 million KRW.
Yoo Ah In had previously been an active presence in both television and film. His notable drama works include 'Hellbound', 'Secret Love Affair', and 'Chicago Typewriter', while his filmography features 'Voice of Silence', 'Veteran', 'The Throne', and 'Burning'. He received the Best Actor award at the 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards and the Best Actor (Film) award at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards.
As news of his return emerges, public reaction to Yoo Ah In’s comeback continues to intensify.
