Singer Kyuhyun surprised viewers by sharing several shocking incidents involving his former managers.
In Episode 5 of Netflix’s 'Three Idiots in Kenya,' released on December 2, Kyuhyun spoke openly about unbelievable experiences he had with past managers. The stories ranged from theft to driving without a license to an attempt to switch seats with him during a police chase.
“He Put a Teddy Bear in the Backseat to Fake a Passenger”
Kyuhyun first recalled an incident involving a manager who tried to fool tollgate staff. “At the Namsan tunnel tollgate, cars with three or more passengers can pass without paying. It was only the manager and a member in the car,” he said.
“They told us to roll down the window so we did. There was a teddy bear in the backseat. The manager thought its shape would fool the staff. As soon as we rolled down the window, the staff yelled, ‘Are you kidding me?’”
A Manager With a Habit of Stealing
Kyuhyun then talked about another manager who was eventually caught stealing.
“Yesung opened the shoe cabinet area and found the manager there looking startled,” he said. “When Yesung asked what he was doing, the manager kept denying everything. When we made him move aside, there was a box filled with all the items we had lost.”
Kyuhyun added that the manager begged for the incident to remain a secret and even kneeled while pleading. The manager was eventually fired. “What shocked us even more was that he later found a job as another singer’s manager,” Kyuhyun said.
Driving Without a License, Wrong Way Driving, and a Seat Switch Attempt
The most shocking story involved a manager who caused a dangerous police chase. “At the Konkuk University intersection, he made an illegal U-turn, and a police car started following us,” Kyuhyun explained. “He suddenly sped up. When I asked what he was doing, he said, ‘Kyuhyun, my license is already suspended. I cannot get caught.’”
According to Kyuhyun, the manager began driving in the opposite direction of traffic and ignored Kyuhyun’s pleas to stop. “There was a motorcycle in front of us, and the manager honked and cursed at the rider to move,” he said. The motorcyclist realized that the police were chasing the car and moved slowly to block them, forcing the car to stop.
“That is when the manager asked, ‘Kyuhyun, can you switch seats with me? If I get caught, who will take care of you?” Kyuhyun recalled. “He was asking me to take responsibility for driving against traffic.”
The police eventually pulled the manager out of the car. “He kept shouting, ‘Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun,’ even as he was being taken away,” Kyuhyun said. “It sounds unbelievable, but I am not exaggerating at all.”
Comedian Lee Soo Geun reacted by saying, “It is unbelievable that someone like that could work as a manager.” Eun Ji Won added, “He was driving without a license all that time. His heart must have been pounding every day.”
