Trot singer Kim Ho Joong, currently serving time for a drunk driving hit-and-run, has reportedly been included in the review process for a “Christmas special” parole.
According to a report by News1 on December 5, Kim Ho Joong has been listed as a candidate for parole by the Parole Review Committee under the Ministry of Justice ahead of the Christmas special release.
Prisoners deemed eligible for parole by the committee are expected to be released on December 24, the day before Christmas. However, it remains uncertain whether Kim Ho Joong will be approved.
Typically, parole candidates must have served at least one-third of their sentence, demonstrated good behavior while incarcerated, and be considered unlikely to reoffend.
Kim Ho Joong was previously prosecuted for a hit-and-run in May last year in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, after crashing his car into a taxi while driving under the influence and fleeing the scene. In April, the court sentenced him to two years and six months in prison, and he is currently held at Somang Prison in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province.
Meanwhile, Kim Ho Joong recently sparked controversy after reports emerged that he was approached by a prison officer demanding a bribe while incarcerated.
