Paul Kim revealed that he is already two years into married life, sharing that while he is legally married, he has yet to hold a wedding ceremony.
On December 25, Paul Kim appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel Jaefriends in a video titled ‘The guest is Paul Kim, but it's an unexpected combination｜Jaefriends Ep.93｜Paul Kim & Kim Jaejoong,' where he sat down for a candid conversation with Kim Jaejoong.
Reacting with surprise, Kim Jaejoong admitted, “I didn’t even know you were married.” In response, Paul Kim, now a “second-year married man,” laughed and said, “A lot of people really don’t know. Because this was such an important matter for us, we carefully planned when and how to announce it. I even handwrote a letter and prepared everything in advance. But even now, there are still many comments saying, ‘Wait, he was married?’”
Kim Jaejoong jokingly placed the blame on Paul Kim, saying, “I think this one’s on you. You still look like a young groom. And shouldn’t your nickname be ‘eardrum husband’ instead of ‘eardrum boyfriend’?” drawing laughter from the set.
When asked about his wedding anniversary, Paul Kim surprised viewers by answering, “We haven’t had a wedding yet.” He went on to explain that choosing an anniversary date has been difficult, adding, “We’re still debating whether to use the day we first met or the day we started living together as our anniversary.”
Addressing a question about whether he married a fan, Paul Kim recalled their first meeting, saying, “When I was introduced to her, the matchmaker told her my name was Paul Kim. My wife said she thought, ‘I guess there’s a singer with that name,’ and came out to meet me.” He continued with a laugh, “At that time, no one really knew me. My recognition was basically nonexistent back then.”
Meanwhile, Paul Kim announced his marriage in April of last year, revealing that he tied the knot with a non-celebrity partner after nine years of dating. With the consent of both families, the couple decided to forgo a formal wedding ceremony.
