For international K-pop fans who may only know the current idol generation, Jaurim is a name you need to know. Since debuting in 1997, this iconic rock band—fronted by the charismatic and inimitable female vocalist Kim Yuna—has held a unique and legendary status in the Korean music industry for 28 years.
The band recently released their 12th regular album, 'LIFE!', pouring out more energy and raw emotion than ever before. In a written interview on December 6, Kim Yuna explained the album's intense theme. She noted that extreme competition and chaos are also forms of war, asking, "Has there ever been a moment in human history when life wasn't a war?" She described the album as a depiction of the "private battles individuals fight in life."
This album is particularly special as the band traveled to London's historic Abbey Road Studios—home to legends like The Beatles and Queen—to record tracks like "MY GIRL", "VAMPIRE", and "STARS".
Guitarist Lee Sun Kyu reflected on their journey, saying, "We started as a band in a two-pyeong (tiny) rooftop studio. Now, after 28 years, we decided to enjoy the luxury of working at Abbey Road, a place we've dreamed of since we were kids."

Bassist Kim Jin Man added that the role of their music in this "war-like life" is to "struggle together, collapse together, and ultimately comfort and heal".
Known for timeless hits like "Twenty-five, Twenty-one" and "Hey Hey Hey", Jaurim continues to evolve. For this album, they experimented by fusing synth-pop with hard rock sounds.
The band will meet fans live at their solo concert at Ewha Womans University in Seoul from December 26 to 28.
