Actress Han Sia is drawing attention for her role in the short film 'Target,' which revisits the late Oh Yoanna’s death and the workplace bullying allegations surrounding the case.
'Target' is a two-episode short film created by YouTuber Jin Yong Jin, dramatizing events inspired by the late Oh Yoanna’s case. The final episode is scheduled to be released on December 27 via the Jin Yong Jin YouTube channel.
In the film, Han Sia plays the lead role of Oh Ji Eun, a weathercaster who becomes a victim of workplace bullying. The character demands a wide emotional range, portraying both professional composure and deep psychological distress.
Han Sia also has a real-life connection to the late Oh Yoanna, having previously worked with her on a broadcast. Reflecting on the role, she shared, “It felt like a role destined for me. She once gave me courage while she was alive, and now I want to repay that, even in a small way, through my acting.”
Oh Yoanna passed away in September last year. In a note she left behind, she detailed the workplace harassment she had allegedly endured. Following the incident, MBC announced the abolition of its freelance weathercaster system, opting instead to transition to a full-time employment structure for weather and climate specialists.
In October, approximately one year after Oh Yoanna’s death, the MBC president issued an official apology to her family and pledged measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. A memorial space dedicated to Oh Yoanna was also established at MBC headquarters, which will remain open until September 15 next year.
Meanwhile, Han Sia made her acting debut in 2014 through the film 'Innocent Thing,' directed by Kim Tae Kyun. She later appeared in the JTBC drama 'Love Me' and is also set to feature in the SBS-TV series 'Sold Out Again Today,' scheduled to air in 2026.
