Ham So Won expressed dissatisfaction with the financial mindset of her ex husband Jin Hua, who is 18 years younger than her.
On the December 27 broadcast of MBN’s 'Dongchimi', Ham So Won and Jin Hua shared a meal alone together for the first time since their divorce. Their daily life was revealed as they now live under the same roof again three years after their divorce while carefully considering reconciliation.
While dining together, Jin Hua ordered a generous spread, including chicken soup with medicinal herbs, three servings of pork belly, and spicy mixed noodles. Ham So Won said the order was excessive and advised, “If you earn 50,000 KRW (approx. 35 USD), it’s fine to spend 10,000 KRW, but you shouldn’t spend all 100,000 KRW just because you have it. How are you going to live tomorrow?”
Jin Hua responded, “It’s not like we eat out every day. We can eat something good,” and added, “The reason you get angry so often is because you don’t eat enough. Eat properly and eat your fill.”
Ham So Won went on to express her frustration, saying, “Jin Hua lives only for today. Around June, he said he was going out to eat and ended up spending 200,000 KRW (approx. 139 USD) on Korean beef by himself. You need to save when it’s time to save and spend when it’s time to spend. If he has 50,000 KRW, he spends it all. What happens when the money runs out? He says that if there’s none, you just live without it.”

Watching this, model Lee Hyun Yi sympathized, saying, “It might be fine if it were just the two of you, but there’s a child.” Ham So Won added, “He says that a child has their own fortune, that everything they need to eat is already destined. You may not know this, but all of Jin Hua’s clothes are luxury brands.”
When Lee Hyun Yi asked, “Does he earn well?” Ham So Won replied, “In the past, he earned well for his age. After COVID, the factory hasn’t been doing well. His clothing business did well when he was 20, but since around 2022, the factory hasn’t been doing well.” MC Kim Yong Man commented sympathetically, “He probably got used to buying luxury goods when things were going well. Is that what you fought over?”
Ham So Won confessed, “When we were dating, it was really great. He wouldn’t let me spend a single won. He paid for everything himself, and I loved that. But after we got married, he kept spending money, and that didn’t seem right to me.”

On the show, the two also clashed sharply over their child’s education. As the conversation grew tense, their 7-year-old daughter Hye Jung carefully read the room and asked, “Mom and Dad, you’re not fighting, right?” showing her concern.
Ham So Won then revealed, “I once asked Hye Jung, ‘Would it be better to live with Dad?’ She held my hand, lowered her head, and said, ‘No, Mom is having such a hard time.’”
Psychiatrist Lee Gwang Min explained, “There’s a high possibility that So Won shared negative things about Jin Hua with Hye Jung from time to time. Hye Jung likely knows that her mom doesn’t like her dad very much and is struggling. But it doesn’t negatively affect Hye Jung. To her, he’s still a good father."
"However," the psychiatrist continued, "since her primary caregiver is the mother, the basic attachment is formed with the mother. That makes the child read the mother’s emotions. It means she feels that it’s okay to live just with her mom.”
Meanwhile, when the production team asked Jin Hua about the possibility of reconciliation, he answered, “It’s fifty fifty,” drawing attention.
