Eight years have passed since SHINee’s Jonghyun left the world.
Jonghyun passed away on December 18, 2017, at the age of 27.
Marking the eighth anniversary of his passing, SHINee’s official account shared a photo from Jonghyun’s lifetime along with the message, “We will always love you.”
Fans responded with heartfelt tributes, leaving comments such as, “The brightest presence in my heart,” “I will always miss and love you,” and “I miss you so much,” pouring out their longing for the late artist.
Dancer and actor Cha Hyun Seung also shared photos from his memories with Jonghyun as soon as the eighth anniversary arrived, expressing his longing and adding to the somber mood.
Jonghyun debuted in 2008 as SHINee’s main vocalist and quickly rose to prominence with hit songs such as “Replay,” “Love Like Oxygen,” and “Ring Ding Dong.” He later made his official solo debut in 2015.
He was widely recognized as a talented singer-songwriter and musician, showcasing his musical depth by writing and composing songs such as IU’s “A Gloomy Clock” and Lee Hi’s “BREATHE.” He also connected with listeners as a radio DJ through MBC’s 'Blue Night, Jonghyun.'
The eighth anniversary comes at a particularly difficult time, as SHINee member Key has recently suspended activities after being embroiled in allegations of receiving illegal medical procedures from a so-called “Injection Aunt.” With uncertainty surrounding SHINee’s future activities, the timing has only deepened the sense of sadness among fans.
