Actor Yeo Jin Goo has been selected to serve as a KATUSA (Korean Augmentation to the United States Army) and will soon begin his mandatory military service.
On November 3, his agency announced, “Yeo Jin Goo has been chosen as a KATUSA soldier and will begin his service on December 15, serving for approximately one year and six months.”
The agency added, “As the training camp entrance ceremony is a private event attended by many soldiers and their families, we will not be disclosing the specific time or location. We kindly ask fans to refrain from visiting the site in person.”
They continued, “We sincerely thank everyone for their continued love and support for Yeo Jin Goo. Please encourage him as he faithfully fulfills his duty and returns healthy and more mature.”
Born in 1997 and now 28 years old, Yeo Jin Goo personally shared the news of his enlistment with fans through a handwritten letter during his recent fan meeting. “While I’m away for a while, I’ll grow into a stronger and more mature person,” he wrote. “I promise to return healthy in both body and mind, and to stand before you again with deeper acting.”
Earlier this year, Yeo Jin Goo celebrated his 20th debut anniversary with his Asia fan meeting tour ‘BLANKSPACE’, visiting Jakarta, Tokyo, Osaka, Chengdu, Shanghai, and Taipei. He wrapped up the tour with his final show in Seoul on November 1.
