Actress Shim Eun Woo, who previously faced school violence allegations and denied the claims, has officially signed an exclusive contract with Management Nangman, marking a new chapter in her career.
On November 18, Management Nangman announced the contract, stating, “After enduring a long period without wavering and maintaining her place as an actress, we will wholeheartedly support her future growth and journey.”
Shim Eun Woo plans to resume her activities following the signing of this agreement. Rather than rushing back after her hiatus, she has chosen a period of “returning to basics,” dedicating herself to theater rehearsals to refine her acting skills and strengthen her foundation.
In December, Shim Eun Woo will appear on stage in the play 'Donghwa Donggyeong (童話憧憬),' where she will connect with audiences. The production, selected by the '2025 Korea Arts & Culture Education Service’s “Arts Support for Children and Youth,” sensitively portrays the poignant world of a boy and girl confronting flames by the hearth and soot beneath a chimney.
'Donghwa Donggyeong' was highly praised in 2013 by the 'Hankook Ilbo New Year Literary Contest' for “poetically capturing the roots of absurdity and solitude in the world through fairy-tale characters and events on stage.” Shim Eun Woo is expected to demonstrate her stage presence once again by intricately expressing the emotional nuances of her character.
In addition to theater, Shim Eun Woo will also appear in the independent film Wet, a project selected through the '2025 Gyeongnam Cultural Foundation Young Director Production Contest.' The film follows the journey of Hye Seon as she reflects on her missing friend, Yoon Su, and traces the memories and emotions that remain. Shim Eun Woo will play Hye Seon, bringing depth and sensitivity to the character’s inner world.
Throughout her career, Shim Eun Woo has appeared in various projects, including dramas 'Fly High Butterfly,' 'Love Scene Number#,' 'The World of the Married,' and the film 'Seire.' Her new contract signals the continuation of her professional journey.
Shim Eun Woo’s career was interrupted in March 2021 when she was embroiled in school violence allegations, leading to a nearly five-year hiatus. At the time, following allegations from an individual identified as A, she initially made a statement that seemed to acknowledge wrongdoing.
However, in July 2023, Shim Eun Woo reversed her stance and filed a defamation suit against A for spreading false information. The case was concluded in March 2024 without charges. Police reportedly determined that A’s claims could not be considered entirely false based on witness testimonies. Later in July, Shim Eun Woo stated on her YouTube channel, asserting, “The final result confirmed that this was not school violence.”
With these developments, Shim Eun Woo is now poised to make a strong comeback in both theater and film, embracing a fresh start after a turbulent period.
