[Spoiler Alert: Episode Summary]
This article contains plot points and episode summaries from ‘Nice to Not Meet You’ Episode 8.
tvN’s Monday–Tuesday drama 'Nice to Not Meet You' will take a one-week hiatus to improve the overall quality of the series.
Episode 8, which aired on November 25, captivated viewers with a fateful and fast-moving storyline. In the latest twist, Lim Hyun Jun (played by Lee Jung Jae) learned that the anonymous chat user “Soulful” was actually Wi Jung Shin (played by Lim Ji Yeon). The two had unknowingly bonded through a secondhand marketplace app, sharing their thoughts without realizing each other’s true identities.
Episode 8 hits a peak rating of 5.1%
Episode 8 recorded an average rating of 4.1% and a peak of 5.1% in the Seoul metropolitan area. Nationwide, it saw the same 4.1% average and a peak of 5.0%, securing the No. 1 spot in its time slot.
The numbers, however, fell short of the ambitious goals set by the production team and cast. At the online press conference held on October 28, director Kim Ga Ram openly declared a target of 30% viewership, saying he hoped to “make new history for tvN,” even if it meant facing criticism. Lim Ji Yeon also committed to the goal, vowing to appear in a music video if the drama hit 30%.

Lim Hyun Jun and Wi Jung Shin's emotions deepen
In the latest episode, Wi Jung Shin stormed into Lim Hyun Jun’s office after hearing news of Yoon Jung Ho signing with Kingsback Entertainment. When she confronted him in anger, Lim Hyun Jun revealed his true intentions, saying he wanted to “bury things safely” so no harm could be done.
Unable to sort out his feelings, Lim Hyun Jun exchanged messages with “Soulful” while wrestling with his growing interest in Jung Shin. When CEO Hwang teased him about dating, he waved the comment off, though his emotions remained in turmoil. Torn between his real-life feelings for Jung Shin and his connection with “Soulful,” he struggled to make sense of his heart. Yoo Eun Kyung advised him, “If you’re not planning to stay stuck where you are, choose a direction and commit to it. It already seems like you’ve made up your mind.”

Wi Jung Shin's hidden identity revealed
Meanwhile, Jung Shin sensed something had shifted in the messages from “Melo Master.” After her younger sister, Wi Hong Shin, misunderstood him as a potential love interest, Jung Shin finally recognized her own feelings. She gathered the courage to send a heartfelt message: “Our beginning was a bit strange, but I want to get to know you better—not just in the small world inside our phones, but in the real world. Will you meet me?”
Hyun Jun asked for some time to think, but Jung Shin replied that she would wait for him at the Namsan Locks Observatory in one week. As the date approached, Hyun Jun grew increasingly anxious and eventually rushed to Park Byung Gi’s studio to ask for help. Park Byung Gi readily agreed to act on his behalf as “Melo Master.”
Watching from a hidden spot, Hyun Jun was stunned when he discovered that “Soulful” was Jung Shin all along. This was an unexpected revelation that propelled their relationship into an entirely new chapter.

The episode also revisited former relationships. Lee Jae Hyung handed Jung Shin an invitation, only for Yoon Hwa Young to appear in its place. Hwa Young confessed, “I want to try putting the broken pieces back together,” suggesting the possibility of reconciliation. Meanwhile, as news surfaced of an agency merger involving Im Hyun Jun and Kwon Se Na, a mysterious smile from Lee Dae Ho while looking at an old photo added tension.
Production team to improve quality during short break
'Nice to Not Meet You' will take a short break after airing Episode 10 on December 2. On December 8 and 9, the slot will be filled with the “tvN X TVING Short Drama Curation.” Episode 11 will return on December 15 at 8:50 PM.
The production team shared, “From Episode 11 onward, Hyun Jun and Jung Shin begin resolving misunderstandings and move toward deeper mutual understanding. We hope viewers will look forward to this new phase of their relationship.”
The romantic comedy centers on a once-beloved national actor who has lost his way and an entertainment journalist devoted to exposing the truth. The drama blends rivalry, sharp commentary, and the breaking of prejudices. The cast includes Lee Jung Jae and Lim Ji Yeon in the lead roles, with Kim Ji Hoon, Seo Ji Hye, Choi Gwi Hwa, Jeon Sung Woo, Oh Yeon Seo, and Kim Jae Cheol rounding out an all-star lineup.
