Actor Lee Byung Hun has been selected as the cover star for GQ Hong Kong’s special ‘Men of the Year’ edition.
A global icon whose influence extends far beyond Korean cinema, Lee delivers powerful presence in the new pictorial, showcasing his signature depth and controlled intensity, what GQ calls “Lee Byung Hun’s time.”

In the shoot, the actor effortlessly pulls off a variety of looks, including a classic black suit, a sleek turtleneck, and a velvet tuxedo. The black-and-white cuts, where part of his face is intentionally obscured, add symbolic weight, hinting at his layered identity and emotional depth as an actor.

GQ Hong Kong praised him highly, stating, “Lee Byung Hun is not simply an actor but a master who has led change at the heart of Korean cinema for over 30 years. His name is synonymous with trust and class.”
In the interview, Lee reflected on the evolving era of global content, saying, “As long as there’s a good story and strong craftsmanship, we’re now in a time when anything can resonate with the world from anywhere.”
He also shared a shift in his view of happiness: “I used to think of happiness as a future goal. Now, I ask myself, ‘How happy was I today?’ Feeling the present moment—that’s happiness.”
Lee’s latest film ‘No Other Choice’ has drawn nearly 3 million moviegoers and continues its nationwide run. After opening the North American awards season with the Special Tribute Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, he recently won the Artist of Distinction Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival and earned a Best Actor nomination at the Gotham Awards, further raising the global profile of Korean actors and Korean cinema.
