Kim Hye Yoon confirmed as lead in SBS drama 'Good Partner 2,' joining Jang Na Ra as her new co-star

Actress Kim Hye Yoon is set to take the lead role in season 2 of SBS’s hit drama 'Good Partner.'

On November 5, an industry insider revealed, “Kim Hye Yoon has received an offer to star in 'Good Partner 2' and is currently in the final stages of discussion.”

'Good Partner' is a human legal office drama that delves into the intense yet heartfelt lives of divorce attorneys. The first season, which aired from July to September last year, enjoyed immense popularity, recording a peak viewership rating of 17.7% (Nielsen Korea).

Kim Hye Yoon is expected to join Jang Na Ra, who will reprise her role from season 1, as her new partner. While details about Kim’s character remain under wraps, she is reportedly set to portray a new divorce lawyer who will grow alongside Jang Na Ra’s character in the upcoming storyline.

In season 1, Nam Ji Hyun played a rookie lawyer who developed under the mentorship of star attorney Jang Na Ra. However, due to scheduling conflicts, Nam Ji Hyun decided not to return for the second season after discussions with the production team. The new script will instead focus on the dynamic between Jang Na Ra’s character, Cha Eun Kyung, and the newly introduced lawyer.

Known for her bright and energetic performances in tvN’s 'Lovely Runner,' 'Secret Royal Inspector & Joy,' and MBC’s 'Extraordinary You,' Kim Hye Yoon is expected to showcase a fresh side of herself through this legal drama. With her confident image and clear diction, fans have long anticipated her appearance in a courtroom series, heightening excitement for her performance in 'Good Partner 2.'

Dubbed a “chemistry master” for her synergy with actors such as Byeon Woo Seok, Lee Jae Wook, and Rowoon, Kim’s upcoming on-screen “womance” with Jang Na Ra is also generating keen interest. Following the massive success of 'Lovely Runner' in May last year, which earned her the 'PRIZM Popularity Award' at the '61st Baeksang Arts Awards,' Kim has several projects lined up, including SBS’s 'Human from Today' and the film 'Salmokji.'

'Good Partner 2' is currently in production and aiming to premiere in the second half of next year. Once the casting for both main and supporting roles is finalized, filming will officially begin.
