
The organizers of the ‘2025 MAMA Awards’, as well as several major K-pop companies and groups, have just donated a significant amount to assist victims of the Hong Kong fires.
On November 28, it was revealed that the ‘2025 MAMA Awards’ organizers, CJ ENM, have now donated 3.8 billion won to the fire relief fund set up by the Hong Kong government. The amount is equivalent to about $2.5 million USD, or $20 million HKD. The funds will go towards helping victims of the fires, as well as bereaved families.
The Hong Kong fires began on November 26. With multiple high-rise apartment buildings involved, the fire quickly grew out of control and caused mass devastation. Currently, over 128 people are confirmed dead, with hundreds more still missing. Hong Kong emergency relief workers have been working tirelessly since Wednesday to assist victims and put out the fires.
In response to the current disaster, multiple K-pop groups and companies have joined in to donate and offer their support to Hong Kong during this difficult time. SM Entertainment donated $1 million HKD ($128,446 USD) to the Hong Kong Red Cross, while YG Entertainment donated an additional $1 million HKD to emergency relief and reconstruction efforts. JYP Entertainment donated $2 million HKD (about $256,900 USD) to World Vision Hong Kong, which provides emergency relief.
Six labels from HYBE donated a total amount of $2.66 million HKD (about $341,667 USD) to disaster relief funds for Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, multiple individual K-pop groups donated as well. Stray Kids, GOT7’s Jackson Wang, and Super Junior each donated $1 million HKD, while aespa donated $500,000 HKD, and RIIZE and WayV donated $250,000 HKD each. EXO-CBX donated $500,000 HKD, and KickFlip donated $100,000 HKD to World Vision Hong Kong.
IVE, TWS, and BOYNEXTDOOR each made donations of $500,000 HKD, while i-dle donated 1 million yuan (about $141,000 USD).
