On November 21, it was announced that AKMU had decided to part ways with YG Entertainment after 12 years.
On this day, the label explained, "After much deliberation, AKMU has decided to embark on a new journey." YG Entertainment added, "Following their 'K-Pop Star 2' win in 2013, AKMU chose to debut under YG Entertainment. The duo then debuted with their 1st full album in 2014, with the double title tracks '200%' and 'Give Love', after which they went on to release countless hit songs in their 12-year career."
AKMU previously demonstrated their commitment by renewing their seven-year contract with YG Entertainment in 2021, just as it was expiring. Regarding the unusually long-term five-year contract renewal, Lee Chan Hyuk expressed his trust in the company, saying, "For seven years, they've never had a single conflict or disagreement, and they've supported us steadfastly in the direction we want to go, guiding us as young people."
