
Musician duo AKMU has decided to part ways with YG entertainment after 12 years.
On November 21 KST, YG entertainment revealed, "After much deliberation, AKMU have decided to embark on a new journey."
The agency continued, "Following their 'K-Pop Star 2' win in 2013, AKMU chose to debut under YG entertainment. The duo then debuted with their 1st full album in 2014, with the double title tracks '200%' and 'Give Love', after which they went on to release countless hit songs in their 12-year career."
The label assured, "Even as they bid YG entertainment farewell, AKMU expressed, 'We are forever YG family. whenever you need us, call and we'll be right there. The two members also relayed their feelings of gratitude toward head producer Yang for making them who they are today."
Finally, YG entertainment said, "Nothing changes the fact that AKMU are a part of the YG family. YG genuinely supports on all of AKMU's future endeavors and promises to assist them in any way possible as needed. We also ask fans for your continued love and interest in AKMU, now beginning a new challenge as musicians."
