Jung Kyung Ho is returning to the small screen as a lawyer, drawing attention for his upcoming role in a lighthearted yet heartfelt courtroom drama.
tvN’s new weekend series 'PROBONO' follows a self-serving judge obsessed with career success who unexpectedly becomes a public interest lawyer. Trapped in a small, profitless team at a giant law firm, he experiences a series of comic and moving events as he learns the true meaning of justice and humanity.
'PROBONO' premieres in December
Scheduled to premiere on December 6, 'PROBONO' recently unveiled its first teaser video, introducing Jung Kyung Ho’s character Kang David, who directly takes on “pro bono” work.
The teaser opens with Kang David standing confidently in the middle of a busy street, dressed sharply in a suit and holding up a sign that reads “Pro Bono.” As passersby murmur, “What’s pro bono?”, he smiles knowingly. Then, he flips the sign to reveal a more casual translation: “FREE Lawyer,” instantly clarifying the term’s meaning—legal aid offered free of charge for the public good.

However, things take an unexpected turn. People mistake “FREE Lawyer” for “FREE Hug” and begin embracing him one after another. Flustered but amused, Kang David shouts, “It’s FREE Lawyer, not FREE Hug!” followed by, “You don’t know what Pro Bono is?!”—leaving viewers curious and entertained.
The term "pro bono" comes from the Latin "pro bono publico," meaning “for the public good.” While it typically refers to lawyers providing free legal services to underprivileged groups, it can also encompass other professionals volunteering their expertise to help marginalized communities.
Through this humorous teaser, 'PROBONO' cleverly introduces the concept while sparking curiosity about its upcoming story. Viewers and fans are already highly anticipating the upcoming series and praised, "Jung Kyung Ho has now played a lecturer, labor attorney, and lawyer—he’s conquered every professional role!" "He’s such a great actor," "This looks so fun!" and "The casting is perfect."
Exciting cast and skilled production team raise anticipation
The drama brings together a powerhouse creative team: director Kim Sung Yoon, known for 'Love in the Moonlight,' 'Itaewon Class,' and 'The Sound of Magic,' joins forces with writer Moon Yoo Seok, who previously penned 'The Devil Judge' and 'Ms. Hammurabi.'

The cast lineup is equally strong. Jung Kyung Ho leads alongside So Ju Yeon, who plays an energetic law enthusiast named Park Gi Ppeum, and Lee Yoo Young, known for her emotional depth. Supporting roles include Yoon Na Moo, Seo Hye Won, and Kang Hyung Seok, forming the lively 'PROBONO' team that promises dynamic chemistry.
tvN’s 'PROBONO,' which tells the story of lawyers working for the public good, will air as the follow-up to the currently running Typhoon Company. The series premieres December 6 at 9:10 PM KST.
