Director Ha Jung Woo’s fourth directorial film, packed with his signature humor and sharp dialogue, is on its way, and actress Gong Hyo Jin expressed her admiration for Lee Hanee’s dedicated performance during pregnancy.
A press conference for the film 'The People Upstairs' was held on the 25th at Megabox COEX. Before the event began, attendees held a moment of silence in memory of the late actor Lee Soon Jae, whose passing had been announced earlier that morning. Director-actor Ha Jung Woo, Gong Hyo Jin, Kim Dong Wook, and Lee Hanee were present.
During the press conference Gong Hyo Jin praised Lee Hanee’s professionalism during filming. “Around the third day of shooting, Ha Nee made a major announcement, she said she was pregnant. She asked us to keep it secret, so we did,” she said. “Later, I quietly told the team, and I remember seeing Ha Nee at a table full of food, fighting through morning sickness yet never once grimacing, giving everything she had. I was genuinely amazed.”
She added, “They say the early stages of pregnancy are the hardest, so I don’t know how she managed it. I think she must have endured the most. Her endless positivity surprised me again.” Lee Hanee previously impressed many when she attended the press briefing for AMA in August while heavily pregnant.
'The People Upstairs' tells the story of a couple exhausted by the nightly, overly energetic sounds from the apartment above them. When they finally sit down for dinner with the upstairs couple, an unpredictable conversation unfolds. The film marks Ha Jung Woo’s fourth project as a director and has generated strong attention.
'The People Upstairs' premieres nationwide on December 3.
