According to the fans who were involved in the exchange, they initially help up a sketchbook with the words, "Want to party with us? Drink with us!".
Although Mingyu responded to the invite with laughter at first, the fans assured him that they had extra alcohol for him as well. Then, as shown in the videos above, Mingyu confirms that what the fans are offering is vodka. Finally, when the security guard passes him the drink, the idol made a "Cheers!' gesture and drank.
Mingyu's unexpected gesture has struck up debates about the "ethics" of this exchange, not only in the United States and South Korea, but in K-Pop fan communities around the world.
On one hand, some argued,
