It has been reported that Lim Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun have been cast as the main leads to SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama, 'Brave New World,' scheduled to air in 2026.
Produced with director Han Tae Seop and writer Kang Hyun Joo, 'Brave New World' tells a story of a love-hate relationship that unfolds between Shin Seo Ri, a phenomenal villainess from the Joseon era, and Cha Se Gye, a unscrupulous modern-day Chaebol, or conglomerate heir.
Lim Ji Yeon is taking on a new challenge in this drama by playing dual roles. She will lead the story as Shin Seo Ri, an unknown actress in South Korea possessed by Kang Dan Shim, the most notorious villainess in the Joseon Dynasty. In the drama, Kang Dan Shim was branded "a Femme Fatale who shook the entire nation" and sentenced to death by poisoning. However, she is reawakened in 2026 as the obscure actress Shin Seo Ri.
Heo Nam Jun is also taking on another villainous role as Cha Se Gye, an abusive crown prince. Cha Se Gye is the sole heir to the prominent Cha Il Group and a man notorious for his history of abusing power.
The story begins when Shin Seo Ri appears before him, dressed in a shaman's traditional Korean Hanbok and seemingly dressed as a woman from the Joseon Dynasty.
Lim Ji Yeon has consistently showcased various acting transformations in works like 'The Glory,' 'Lies Hidden in My Garden,' 'The Killing Vote,' and 'The Tale of Lady Ok.'
Heo Nam Jun has also demonstrated his excellent acting skills in dramas such as 'Your Honor,' 'When The Call Rings,' and 'A Hundred Memories.' This time, he is expected to present a new side of himself by transforming into the rude, entitled third-generation Chaebol.
Above all, the 'Love-hate' chemistry that Lim Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun will display is considered the biggest key point of the drama. Lim Ji Yeon as Park Yeon Jin in 'The Glory' and Heo Nam Jun as Kim Sang Hyuk in 'Your Honor' have both previously cemented their reputations by delivering their best-ever villain performances, creating their "life-defining characters." Expectations are high for the synergy the two actors will create as they meet, both having previously portrayed phenomenal villain characters.
Meanwhile, 'Brave New World' is scheduled to air in 2026.
