The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit has dazzled audiences with a spectacular lineup of Korean stars. BTS’s RM, G-Dragon, and even enlisted soldier Cha Eun Woo made remarkable appearances, highlighting the growing influence of K-culture on the global stage.
RM Makes History as the First K-pop Artist to Address the APEC CEO Summit
On October 29, during the second day of the 'APEC CEO Summit 2025' held at the Gyeongju Arts Center, BTS leader RM took the stage as a keynote speaker for the cultural session. This marked the first time a K-pop artist has ever spoken at the event.

Delivering a ten-minute speech titled “The Cultural and Creative Industries of the APEC Region and the Soft Power of K-Culture: A Creator’s Perspective,” RM reflected on the global impact of Korean culture.
“I wanted to share how K-culture has transcended borders to touch hearts around the world,” he said. “As a creator, I feel proud that the cultural industry is being recognized as a key agenda of APEC.”
He described K-pop as a “360-degree package of music, dance, visuals, and storytelling,” and compared its creative synergy to bibimbap, Korea’s iconic mixed rice dish. RM also emphasized the power of fandoms like ARMY, calling on APEC leaders to create spaces where global creators can freely express their talents. He added that culture is the strongest bridge for diversity and inclusion.
G-Dragon Elevates APEC with a Dynamic Performance
Two days later, on October 31, G-Dragon became the only K-pop artist to perform at the 'APEC Leaders’ Welcome Dinner,' held at the Lahan Hotel Grand Ballroom in Gyeongju. His powerful performance was praised for representing innovation and promoting the spirit of APEC while elevating the prestige of Korean culture worldwide.

Appointed as an APEC Promotional Ambassador since July, G-Dragon has been actively involved in raising awareness about the summit. He appeared in a promotional video alongside President Lee Jae Myung, football legend Park Ji Sung, filmmaker Park Chan Wook, and IVE’s Wonyoung. Despite his busy overseas schedule, G-Dragon reportedly traveled back and forth to Korea to participate in the campaign, showing his commitment as a global icon.

An official from the APEC Planning Committee stated, “G-Dragon, with his worldwide influence, perfectly embodies APEC’s values of connection and sustainability. We expect his performance at the dinner to be nothing short of phenomenal.”
Soldier MC Cha Eun Woo’s Surprise Appearance
Adding to the excitement, Cha Eun Woo’s unexpected participation drew widespread attention. On October 30, Cha Eun Woo took the stage as an MC for one of the APEC sessions, captivating the audience with his confident presence and fluent delivery.
Currently serving as a private first class in the Ministry of National Defense’s Support Unit, Cha Eun Woo was temporarily dispatched to assist with the APEC summit in Gyeongju. Videos and photos of him in uniform quickly went viral online, with posts titled 'Cha Eun Woo Spotted at APEC Venue' circulating on social media.

Event staff and attendees praised his professionalism and charisma. One staff member commented, “Even from a distance, his small face and perfect proportions stood out.”
Cha Eun Woo enlisted in the Army Band last July and was recognized for his diligence, being selected as a platoon leader during training. His recent APEC appearance as both a soldier and MC showcased not only his sense of duty but also his enduring star power.
