Anticipation is rising for IU and Byeon Woo Seok's upcoming MBC drama '21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife' after photos of the show’s “royal school” uniforms surfaced online.
Images of the uniform design spread rapidly across social media after a cast member posted behind-the-scenes photos from the filming set, captioned “On location for 21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife.” Fans immediately began imagining the main leads’ “school-uniform visual chemistry,” speculating that both IU and Byeon Woo Seok will appear in student scenes rather than using younger stand-ins.
Both actors have previously captivated audiences in school-themed roles — IU in Netflix’s 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' and Byeon Woo Seok in 'Lovely Runner'. Their on-screen reunion, combined with the drama’s elite-school setting, has made the series one of the most anticipated of 2025.
Set in an alternate-reality Korea under a constitutional monarchy, '21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife' tells the story of Sung Hee Joo (IU), a chaebol heiress frustrated by her commoner status, and Prince Lee Wan (Byeon Woo Seok), a royal born into privilege but burdened by restrictions. The drama is scheduled to premiere next year.
