H.O.T.’s Kangta and Moon Hee Jun shared a story about once being mistaken for carrying drugs.
On October 27, members Moon Hee Jun, Jang Woo Hyuk, Tony An, Kangta, and Lee Jae Won appeared together on the YouTube channel 'Zzan Bro Shin Dong Yup'.

During the show, Kangta recalled being detained for 12 hours during an immigration screening in the U.S.
“It was back in 1997, when immigration checks were very strict,” he said. “I was standing behind Hee Jun while he was being questioned. Suddenly, a security guard came over and took both of us away, saying we seemed suspicious.” Kangta added with a laugh, “Later I asked what they had asked him, and he said, ‘They asked if I was a singer, so I started dancing.’”
Moon Hee Jun continued, “After that, they asked me another question — ‘Are you carrying any drugs?’ — and I said ‘Yes.’ Then they asked, ‘Are you planning to stay here long?’ and I answered ‘Of course.’ That’s when we got taken away.”
He explained, laughing, “They asked the question right after I danced, so even they started laughing. I didn’t really understand what they were saying at the time, so I just kept saying ‘yes.’”
The two even had to get help from embassy staff, showing just how serious the situation became.
H.O.T. will reunite for a full-group performance at the 2025 Hanteo Music Festival on November 22–23.
