A prominent South Korean television producer, known for directing several popular variety shows, has been accused of sexual assault.
According to a report by the Korea Economic Daily on October 31, Producer A, who had been preparing a new season of a well-known program, was accused of sexual assault by a fellow production team member, identified as B. The complaint was filed with the Mapo Police Station in Seoul in August.
B claimed that during a team dinner, A made unwanted physical contact. After rejecting the advance, B allegedly received verbal abuse and was later informed of their removal from the project.
Attorney Lee Eun Ui, representing B, stated that “the victim suffered significant psychological distress and professional damage. Although an internal resolution was initially sought, insufficient action by the company led to the decision to pursue legal action.”
An internal investigation by the company reportedly acknowledged part of A’s alleged misconduct related to sexual contact but did not recognize other claims such as workplace harassment. Producer A has denied all allegations, and both parties have reportedly filed objections to the company’s findings.
