Former TVXQ and JYJ member Park Yoochun has sparked controversy after sharing recent activity updates from Japan on a sensitive date for Koreans.
On August 15, Korea’s Liberation Day, Park Yoochun posted photos on his personal social media, showing his appearance on the Japanese music program 'Room 70 Residents' aired by TOKYO MX.

The pictures, uploaded without captions, showed the singer posing with a bright smile and making a V-sign in front of a waiting room. Another image featured him standing side by side with the show’s host, Daisuke Toyama, both smiling warmly. While Park Yoochun has been primarily active in Japan rather than in Korea, his decision to post Japan-related photos on Liberation Day has drawn criticism from some netizens, who expressed disappointment over the timing.

He also shared moments from his personal life, including enjoying skewers and beer with acquaintances, further fueling online discussions.
Park Yoochun’s career has been marred by multiple controversies. After being sentenced to 10 months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence for drug use, he announced his retirement from the entertainment industry. However, he reversed his decision just a year later and resumed activities.
Beyond his drug scandal, he has faced sexual misconduct allegations and was named by Korea’s National Tax Service in 2023 as a habitual high-income tax defaulter, owing nearly 490 million KRW (approximately $370,000).
Despite his tarnished reputation in Korea, Park Yoochun has continued to pursue opportunities overseas. In September 2023, he held a press conference in Japan to mark the release of his debut album there. He is also scheduled to release a new EP, 'Metro Love,' on August 20.
