Kim Jong Kook recently announced his marriage to his non-celebrity girlfriend, surprising fans and fellow 'Running Man' members. Before his wedding announcement, the singer made headlines after purchasing a 6.2 billion KRW (4.32 million USD) villa in cash.
Back in May, a report from real estate industry sources revealed that Kim Jong Kook acquired one unit of the 243㎡ (approx. 2,615 sq ft) type at “Nonhyeon Apelbaum 2nd Complex (Unit 3)” in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul in April. The transaction amount was 6.2 billion KRW (approximately 4.32 million USD), and it was revealed that he paid the full amount in cash, as no mortgage was registered on the property.

Earlier this week, Kim Jong Kook confirmed the report and revealed why he purchased the house all in cash.
Kim Jong Kook appeared on the second episode of the YouTube show 'GGANG SIAN' and met with Lee Si An. During the program, Lee Si An brought up the news about his new house purchase. She began by saying, "I heard some news that you recently... (bought a house)." Kim Jong Kook candidly opened up and explained, "Everyone knows. I didn't buy a building, just a house. It wasn't for investment or anything. It was just to live in."

Si An responded, "And paid in cash..." to which Kim Jong Kook responded honestly, "I didn't want to pay any interest (on a loan)," making her both in shock and envy. Lee Si An replied, "I'm so jealous."
Meanwhile, Kim Jong Kook is set to marry his non-celebrity fiancée on September 5 in Seoul, in a private ceremony with only family and close friends. The singer even kept the news secret from his 'Running Man' castmates until just before the official announcement, leaving them stunned.
