
On the afternoon of August 28, the '7th Newsis Hallyu Expo' (2025 K-Expo) was held at the Crystal Ballroom of Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul.
Launched in 2019, the 'Hallyu Expo' aims to promote the sustainability of Korean Wave (Hallyu) and enhance the competitiveness of the cultural industry. The event honors individuals and companies that have contributed to the spread and development of K-culture over the past year.

This year, IU received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award for her work in the Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines.' Upon receiving the award, she said, “I am honored and delighted to receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award. I will continue to contribute to culture and work to ensure more people can experience and enjoy K-culture.”
'When Life Gives You Tangerines' topped the Netflix Global Non-English Series Top 10 chart, achieving widespread success. IU captivated audiences by portraying both Oh Ae Soon and Yang Geum Myeong, delivering a wide range of emotional performances and nuanced character interpretations that heightened the series’ immersion.
