For years, BLACKPINK LISA's name has become synonymous with dance in the K-pop industry, thanks to her beautiful dance lines and signature powerful yet delicate and graceful moves that make her unique and mesmerizing to watch on stage.
Her captivating dance style and skill are largely due to Lisa's interest in dance from a young age, which she enjoyed and practiced a lot. She has even been dubbed a "Genius" due to her ability to imitate any artist's dance in seconds, as demonstrated several times during her debut with BLACKPINK.
So it’s no surprise that in an episode titled “SM’s Gem vs. CUBE’s Gem” on the YouTube show "The Appraiser" (감별사), legendary K-pop dancer Girls Generation’s Hyoyeon joined i-dle’s Shuhua for a fun and open discussion about dance, where Lisa's name was called the “Top K-pop Dancer”.
Between laughs and casual conversation, Shuhua asked Hyoyeon about her personality, and Hyoyeon answered that she is an ISTP (introverted, sensing, thinking, and perceiving). In other words, she is one of those people who enjoys having time to think alone and is very direct in saying things, as well as being independent. Also adding the phrase: “People want empathy, but I just give them the answer, don’t do that,”
Shuhua, noticing the resemblance to her group's leader, Jeon Soyeon, asked Hyoyeon if her outspokenness ever hurt those around her. Unabashed, Hyoyeon replied, "I don't care if they get hurt or not. It's not that what I said was wrong."
Later, the conversation took a lighter turn when Hyoyeon was asked to name the best idol dancer in the industry. Without hesitation, she chose BLACKPINK’s Lisa, praising her skill, precision, and adaptability in dancing: “Lisa dances so well. I think she’s the top.”
This isn't the first time Hyoyeon has praised Lisa's dancing skills, as she mentioned in a past interview that if she were to be a part of the show "Street Women Fighter" she would have definitely recruited Lisa for her team, and on a radio show she directly revealed that if she had to choose the best dancer among all the K-pop girl groups, Lisa was definitely the Top #1, while on the male dancer side, Shinee's Taemin and Exo's Kai were the best.
Hyoyeon’s honesty and wit, combined with her deep respect for fellow dancer Lisa, once again showcased her position as a veteran idol who knows talent when she sees it and isn’t afraid to speak her mind.
