Kim Taehyung, aka V of BTS, has emerged from military service a changed man. His steadfast commitment to fitness and self-discipline has earned him admiration from his peers and fans worldwide.
On July 14 PST during a joint Weverse live broadcast, RM described himself, Jungkook, and Taehyung as the “workout crew,” highlighting that the trio are now the most committed gym enthusiasts in the group.
Both RM and Jungkook confirmed that Taehyung has now become the strongest member of the group thanks to his consistent focus on training and weightlifting, even after his military discharge.
“Shocking news! Kim Taehyung (V) is stronger than me,” RM said, to which Jungkook also agreed, saying, “He’s stronger than me too.” RM and Jungkook admitted, “Right now, the two of us can’t keep up with him,” and explained, “We were shocked — we focused on bodyweight exercises, but Taehyung did weight training in the Special Forces.” Taehyung then added that it was all possible through self-discipline: “I forced myself into the habit.”
RM: We’re the fitness/workout team, right? JK: We have to go again tomorrow, of course. RM: Shocking news — Kim Taehyung is stronger than me now. JK: He’s stronger than me too. RM: The two of us, we’re both getting beaten by him right now. JK: Right now. RM: Yeah, I was pretty shocked. Tae: "laughs" RM: We mostly do bodyweight exercises, but Taehyung joined the special unit and started lifting weights. But now, his physique... RM: He’s bigger than us. We can’t even finish the sets he does now. Tae: But honestly, you guys just worked out for the first time in a while, but I’ve been doing it consistently. RM: No, I’ve been working out too. I just didn’t add weight, but I was doing it too. Tae: If you just do it for two weeks, I’m sure you’ll catch up to me. RM: Two weeks is enough? Tae: Two weeks is enough. Seriously. The reason is, JK only started weight training not long ago. Tae: It’s been a short time. How long has it been for you? Has it been two months? JK: Hmm, I don’t know. Since you started properly— Tae: It’s probably been about, I think, two months. Two and a half? RM: Anyway, I go every morning at 9:30 and work out now. But seriously, what Kim Taehyung is doing is unbelievable, guys. I’m going to lose in a fight now. Tae: No way, that’s not true. RM: So are you going to work out for two hours or something? That guy’s crazy. Tae: I forced myself into the habit.
Taehyung has undergone a remarkable physical and mental transformation since his military enlistment. He not only applied to the Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Special Forces, one of the toughest units in the military, but also excelled in it, rising to the rank of Sergeant and becoming an ace marksman.
In addition, Taehyung gained further prestige by being awarded a Special Warrior badge for his outstanding performance. As part of this honor, he will be featured in the unit’s Hall of Fame for a year, serving as a role model for other soldiers.
Taehyung is currently in Los Angeles, where he flew last week to reunite with his groupmates as they begin work on their highly anticipated new album. This comes after his viral appearance in Paris for the Celine show. Check it out below.
