Min Hee Jin was cleared of breach of trust allegations as the police decided not to forward her case to prosecution.
On July 15, the police cited a lack of evidence against Min Hee Jin for the breach of trust filed by HYBE back in April 2024. Min Hee Jin's side stated, "The Seoul Yongsan Police Station has ruled that Min Hee Jin committed no wrongdoing regarding the breach of trust accusations filed by HYBE in April 2024. After over a year of investigation, both cases submitted by HYBE were dismissed without charges.”
In response to the latest decision made by the police, HYBE released an official statement to appeal the decision. HYBE explained, "Following the police's decision to drop the breach of duty case we filed last year against Min Hee Jin and others, we will immediately submit an objection to the prosecution. Since the police investigation, new developments have occurred, including NewJeans members’ declarations to terminate their contracts, and several new pieces of evidence have been submitted during related court proceedings.”
Following the latest update on her breach of contract case, Min Hee Jin updated her social media. She posted a song on her Instagram story, reflecting her current state of mind.
She posted the track, “Beyond the Clouds” by The Frank Cunimondo Trio, which includes lyrics such as: “See you beyond the clouds, living so joyfully / No one will hold you long, your world is always bright and free / You are a rainbow and then the spring, let your free spirit sing.”
The uplifting lyrics suggest a sense of liberation, leading many to interpret the post as her way of saying, “I’m free.”
However, Min Hee Jin's latest social media post has not been well received. Rather, it is drawing criticism from Korean netizens, as many are questioning the future of NewJeans. They reacted:
