On July 22nd KST, NewJeans’ official channel uploaded a video titled “NewJeans Day: We Are NewJeans”, commemorating the 3rd anniversary of the group’s debut on July 22nd, 2022.
In the newly released footage, the members of NewJeans are seen lighting candles on a cake to celebrate their debut. Haerin shared,
“It doesn’t quite feel real yet. I think it’ll be very different to see people reacting to what we do.”
Minji added,
“I really want to spread our music to the world as soon as possible. I want to show everyone what we’ve prepared. I hope people will watch us for a long, long time. If people listen to and watch NewJeans whenever they want, maybe that’s how they’ll keep watching us for a long time.”
The video also featured behind-the-scenes clips from a music video shoot on May 11th, 2022. Hyein recalled,
“I was so happy dancing at the amusement park. That smile was genuine.”
Hanni confessed,
“It was my first time dancing outside while following the camera, so it was tiring. But it felt like we were just having fun among ourselves, so I really enjoyed it. It was so fun that I forgot to call my parents and got scolded.”
When asked how they wanted to be perceived by the public, the members replied,
“We want to be like close friends. We’re just people like everyone else, so we hope people will see us that way—as friends.”
Fans reacted with a mix of gratitude and sadness to the release of the nostalgic footage featuring the fresh-faced members from before their debut.
