Boy group NOWZ has revealed their third transformation through their latest mini-album, showcasing a bold new side to their artistry.
On July 18 KST, NOWZ released the performance video for “Problem Child”, a track from their first mini-album 'Ignition,' and it has since continued to draw attention. The high-energy choreography, backed by a mega crew of around 50 dancers, highlights a fresh and powerful side of the group.
“Problem Child” delivers a message of breaking free from societal “correct answers” and boldly accepting one’s own identity, unshaken by others’ standards. With tight kicks, snares, and hi-hat rhythms layered under a hook that lingers, the track leaves a strong impression. Owing to its raw and untamed tone, the members revealed it was the most difficult song to record on the album.
“It’s a song that needed a wild, unpolished energy, not just a stylized sound,” NOWZ shared. “There were many belted lines and rough, growling vocal techniques involved. It was so tough, we couldn’t even smile before recording.”
After being introduced at their fan showcase, “Problem Child” quickly became a fan favorite, with calls for official promotions pouring in. The intense energy from the showcase was amplified by the performance video’s release. Notably, choreography by popular dance crew We Dem Boyz elevated the stage to what fans are calling NOWZ’s most high-end performance yet.
“The chorus choreography is powerful yet playful,” the group noted. “It features expressive facial acting and gestures that show off each member’s unique personality. We especially focused on the synergy between the dynamic choreography and the explosive energy of the track.”
With this album, NOWZ continues to expand their musical spectrum, starting with the pre-release single “Fly Freely (Feat. Yuqi)”, produced by their label senior from I-DLE, followed by the rock-inspired title track “Everglow”, and now the performance-heavy “Problem Child.”
NOWZ is currently promoting their first mini-album “Ignition” through music programs and various content releases.
