Fans denied entry at DAY6 fan concert due to overly strict ID policy

Fans of DAY6 are speaking out against what they describe as excessive ID checks at the group’s recent fan concert, where many were reportedly denied entry despite holding valid tickets. The issue has particularly affected underage fans who presented student IDs but were still turned away, sparking criticism of the event's rigid admission policies.

One fan shared their experience online, saying, “I’ve been to four DAY6 concerts before, and they never asked for ID. But at this fan concert, they suddenly said ID was required. I showed my student ID, but it wasn’t accepted. I even got my dad to send a photo of my passport, but they rejected that too, saying it had to be a physical copy.”

Another attendee said, “I only had my student ID, so I couldn’t get in.” These experiences quickly gained attention across fan communities, with many describing the event as more strict than official government procedures.

A widely shared post referenced an infographic from the National Election Commission of Korea, which lists student IDs with photos, passports, driver’s licenses, and other photo IDs issued by public institutions as valid identification for voting.

“If my student ID is good enough for voting, why isn’t it good enough for a concert?” a fan questioned. “It’s absurd that a concert would have stricter rules than the government.”

The concert’s organizers explained that the ID checks were meant to prevent scalping and fraudulent ticket purchases. However, fans criticized the policy as ineffective, noting that while scalpers and bots weren’t filtered out, regular fans were the ones who suffered. One fan claimed that even after arriving with their parent and police officer to confirm their identity, they were still denied entry.

“This wasn’t about verification—it was about inflexible bureaucracy,” the fan said.

Adding to the frustration, fans who were not allowed to enter were also denied refunds. This led to further backlash, with many calling the policy unfair and a violation of consumer rights. “We bought tickets through official channels, but they refused to let us in and wouldn’t refund us either,” said one attendee. “They talk about stopping scalpers, but there’s no real system—just damage to actual fans.”

While some argued that the organizers had announced the ID policy in advance, many fans countered that the issue wasn’t about the notice itself, but the event’s lack of flexibility. “Whether it was announced or not, this kind of rigid enforcement is the problem,” one post read. “Why should getting into a concert be harder than voting?”

The controversy has since grown beyond the issue of student ID acceptance, becoming a broader criticism of K-pop event management. Fans are now calling for organizers to adopt fairer, more effective anti-scalping measures and to respect the rights of legitimate ticket holders.
